Splitzzzy vs. Splitwise
Splitwise is a solid app. If you've used it, you already know — it works, it's been around for over a decade, and splitting a dinner tab with six people is genuinely easy with it. But it's built for groups. Splitzzzy is built for two people in a relationship, and that's a different thing entirely.
The core difference
Splitwise thinks of you as an individual with a ledger to manage. Splitzzzy thinks of you as a couple with a shared financial life that shouldn't require this much effort. That framing drives every product decision — from how expenses appear, to how splits are calculated, to how you settle up.

What Splitzzzy does that Splitwise doesn't
Your bank syncs automatically
Connect your bank or credit card and expenses appear in Splitzzzy without any manual entry. You review them, adjust the split if needed, and move on. With Splitwise, every expense has to be logged by hand.
It learns how you split
Most couples have patterns — you always pay rent, your partner covers groceries. Splitzzzy picks this up and applies it automatically, so "how do we split this?" stops being a recurring question.
Priced for two, not two separate bills
One subscription covers both of you. Splitwise charges per person for premium features, which means you're each paying separately for an app you share.
Built into iMessage
Splitzzzy works where couples already communicate. You get nudges, expense summaries, and split requests directly in iMessage — no separate app switch needed.
Where Splitwise still wins
Fair is fair:
- Group expenses — if you split tabs with friends or share an apartment with roommates, Splitwise handles that cleanly. Splitzzzy doesn't.
- International coverage — Splitwise works in most countries. Splitzzzy is US-only right now.
- Track record — Splitwise has been around since 2011. Splitzzzy is newer, which means a smaller community and a shorter history.
The honest answer
If your primary use case is splitting expenses with your partner, Splitzzzy is the better tool — purpose-built, bank-synced, and priced fairly. If you also need to manage group expenses with friends or roommates, you can use both. They're not mutually exclusive.
